Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhandos Nurmaganbetov headed the Kazakh delegation.

The conference was attended by representatives of 175 member countries of the organization, who considered a wide range of topical issues related to nuclear safety in the world and the effectiveness of IAEA safeguards.

IAEA inspectors annually inspect and verify nuclear materials at the production facilities of the nuclear holding. Kazatomprom experts took an active part in the development of recommendations on ensuring nuclear security, accounting and control of natural uranium in production.

The IAEA Low-Enriched Uranium Bank operates on the premises of the Ulba Metallurgical Plant. This unique project is a contribution of Kazakhstan and a number of donor countries to the peaceful use of atomic energy and the strengthening of the nuclear non-proliferation regime.

In addition, last year, Kazatomprom became a co-founder of the IAEA Vienna Group chaired by Director General of the IAEA. The aim of the Vienna Group is to create a platform for solving current global problems through the effective use of innovative nuclear technologies for peaceful purposes.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation aimed at developing peaceful nuclear energy and strengthening global nuclear security.
